RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRYPlease read carefully: N.B. Change of Rules 2008. ENTRIES – LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.1. (a) Entries close with the Entry Registrar on Thursday 20th March 2008. All entries must be accompanied by entrance fees in cash, money order or cheque. Please send a stamped self-addressed envelope for the forwarding of the timetable if required. 2. Entry fees are not refundable except where a section is cancelled (Rule 32(b)). 3. A competitor’s age as at 1st June 2008 shall be deemed to bethe age of the entrant. Competitors may be asked to furnish proof of age, at their own expense. The committee reserves the right to withhold a prize until such proof has been sighted.4. All sections are open to amateurs only, except in the case of a choral conductor or accompanist. An amateur is considered one who does not derive 50% or more of their income from the exercise of their talent. Before entering, non student competitors who either teach or are proprietors of a school, must be prepared to submit a Statutory Declaration to the effect that they do not infringe this ruling. Bona fide students who earn their only income, but not their living, by teaching, are considered amateur. Submission of an entry form is taken by the Eisteddfod Committee as recognition of the above information, and Rule 28 covering disqualification is understood. COMPETITION 7. No competitor may perform more than once in any one section (Open Choirs excluded). 8. AMEB section rules must be complied with as specified under section headings. 9. Time limits will be strictly adhered to in sections where limits apply. The following penalty will be incurred - loss of one mark for every fifteen seconds or part thereof, over the limit. It is not necessary to reach a maximum time, however if a minimum time is stated it must be met. 10. Repeats are not necessary. 12. Use of microphones is not permitted, with the exception of Sections 414 and 424 (Modern Vocal). 13. In keeping with our aims Mildura Eisteddfod Committee encourages all past winning competitors to perform material not previously presented by them when competing at the Mildura Eisteddfod. ADJUDICATION14. Competitors who have been taught, or advised by the Adjudicator in the six months prior to the Eisteddfod are ineligible to compete.15. The Adjudicator has the right to refrain from awarding a prize where insufficient merit has been displayed. 16. The Adjudicator's decision will be final in all sections. 17. Any approach to the Adjudicator by a competitor, parent, teacher or friend of the competitor, during the Eisteddfod, is strictly forbidden. GENERAL ADVICE 19. All Music and Speech and Drama entrants must provide a copy for the adjudicator. This copy is to be handed to the 20. Entrants in Sec.414 and 424 must use original or officially authorized backing music displaying copyright endorsement.
21. All those who wish to use the services of an Official Accompanist must forward music with Section No. and Competitor No. clearly shown by May 19th 2008 . Original music must be used if possible.
22. No rehearsal or practice is permitted on the stage to be used for the competition from the commencement of the Eisteddfod. Any entrants not observing this condition will be automatically disqualified. 23. No prompting or assistance will be allowed during a competitor's performance. 24. All electrical equipment used either on stage or backstage must be tested and tagged. 25. Music stands and tuners are not provided. 26. The Theatre Technician will set stage lighting for all Sections. No special effects will be permitted. 27. Properties: Minimum. No straw or similar material permitted. 28. Non compliance with any condition may lead to disqualification. 29. The Committee accepts no responsibility for any properties left in Theatre dressing rooms. 30. The use of Tape Recorders, Video Recorders, Mobile Phones or Cameras by members of the audience during the Eisteddfod is strictly prohibited. COPYRIGHT31. The Mildura Eisteddfod Society Inc. holds a CAL and APRA Licence.The Mildura Arts Centre Theatre holds a PPCA Licence. All Music Competitors Competitors must use original music or officially authorised copies during their performance. It is illegal to photocopy music that is in copyright without prior permission from the copyright owner. It is illegal to copy/reproduce tracks from an original sound recording without prior permission from the record company that owns the copyright. In addition you must have a Manufacture Licence from AMCOS. Responsibility for adherence to Copyright law rests solely with the person doing or authorising the photocopying or reproduction. SchoolsAll copies must be made in accordance with AMCOS licence agreements and stamped with the school’s official stamp RIGHTS OF COMMITTEE
(b) Cancel or combine any section with three (3) entries or less 33. The Committee reserves the right to appoint a substitute Adjudicator if required. 34. The decision of the Committee in disputes arising out of, or not provided for by these conditions, shall be final. All entries received are subject to this provision, and shall not be subject to any appeal at law. PRIVACY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION35. Performers' names, districts, or schools are printed in the programme. Section results are recorded on our database and website, and appear in the media. Please inform the Committee in writing if you do not wish to be identified in media items. Names and addresses are kept on a secure database for administration purposes. All personal details are for Mildura Eisteddfod use only.
